Degree Requirements
To earn a Bachelor of Applied Science in Manufacturing Technology, you must:
- Complete 120 semester credits (51 within the major)
- Complete at least 30 of the credits at the U of M, including 24 credits after admission to the Bachelor of Applied Science degree program
- Have a 2.0 or better U of M cumulative grade point average
- Complete all prerequisite and major courses
Curriculum
To prepare for admission to the degree program with a major in manufacturing technology, you will complete basic course work in math, physics, chemistry, communication, statistics, and accounting among other subjects.
Once admitted, you'll build on your existing knowledge and experience by taking:
- Manufacturing systems, supply chain, and process courses that sharpen your technical skills
- Business and management courses that expand your project management, operations, and accounting knowledge
- Courses that enhance your oral and written communication skills

Planning for Your Degree
After you are admitted to the manufacturing technology major (see Admission and Registration for more information on admission requirements and the admission process), your academic adviser will assist you in planning your course of study. Keep the following key points in mind as you plan for your degree:
Duration
The duration of the course of study is different for each student, depending on transferable credits and number of courses a student is able to take each semester.
Credit Load
Courses are usually three to four credits; the average part-time student enrolls in two to three courses per term.
Location and Scheduling
Courses are offered on the U of M Minneapolis campus at convenient late afternoon and evening times.
- Required Applied Business courses may be taken online.

Sequencing and Prerequisites
Many of the courses in the Manufacturing Technology Curriculum have prerequisites and run in sequence. Therefore, care is needed when designing your course plan.
