Medical Spanish
It is estimated that between 1990 and 2020, the growth rate for the Chicano/Latino population in Minnesota will be 178 percent — a sharp contrast to the estimated 15.5 percent overall growth rate for the state.*
Public services are often hard-pressed to keep pace with this rapidly growing population. For health and medical industries, meeting this challenge can mean saving lives. Improving Spanish-language skills is one way to meet this challenge. The College of Continuing Education offers two noncredit Medical Spanish courses to meet the growing need for bilingual health professionals. These courses will help the medical community improve the health care services of Spanish-speaking patients.
