Technology Capabilities

The conference center features advanced technology services and ongoing technical support to meet all of your conference needs, whether you're conducting a video conference event or an on-site video conference.

Computer Technology Services to Support Your Event

We can help you plan a large conference with multiple breakout sessions and presenters using computer technology. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, we can arrange for:

  • speaker laptop connections
  • configuring and testing all systems requiring an Internet connection
  • projection setup
  • presenters to e-mail data files to our staff
  • installation and testing of files and notification of results

Video Conferencing $200/Hour − 4-Hour Minimum

Professional video conferencing requires a variety of equipment and labor to ensure the proper experience. The Continuing Education and Conference Center uses the WebEx platform to deliver high-quality video programming with a capacity for 1,000 virtual participants. The quoted price includes a dedicated camera technician, attendee on-boarding assistance, and standard technical equipment with the exception of the presenter’s laptop. The four hour minimum includes one hour of setup to properly prepare for a successful online experience. Technology requires planning and staff time to ensure quality delivery. The conference center has the capacity to deliver one video conference daily. Notification of intent to host a video conference should take place when booking the space, requires a minimum of two weeks’ notice, and is based on availability of staff and equipment.

Wireless Internet Service

The Continuing Education and Conference Center offers free wireless for guests who are non-University of Minnesota credit students at a 200k speed connection that is designed for e-mail and Web browsing. Faculty, staff, and students of the U of M have access to the University-sponsored wireless account through normal login procedures. Programs where attendees are required to be online en masse are encouraged to purchase the sponsored account at a daily fee of $5 per person. The sponsored account operates in excess of 24 MB. Technology requires planning and staff time to ensure quality delivery. Upgraded wireless must be ordered during the planning phase of the program at least two weeks in advance.
