Tuition and Fees

Tuition for workshops in the Twin Cities includes special-event refreshments, dinner on Friday, and access to computer labs. Tuition for Split Rock Shorts includes orientation refreshments, dinner on Wednesday, and access to computer labs.

Tuition for workshops at the Cloquet Forestry Center includes access to the Center’s computer lab. Some workshops have an additional fee to cover expenses such as assistants, field trips, models, photocopying, studio equipment, supplies, and/or visiting artists.

All workshops have a nonrefundable $40 registration fee. VISA, Discover, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted for workshops and accommodations.

Register Online
You may register and reserve housing and/or parking online using your credit card. To do so, you must use either Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer as your browser. If you are using a browser other than Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer, please call 612-625-1976 to register.

To register, find the page that describes your chosen workshop. Select Online Registration near the beginning of the workshop description.

Your required tuition, special fee (if any), and $40 registration fee will appear as one lump sum. If you would like to take your workshop for credit, select the type of credit and grade base you desire. If you would like to take your workshop for no credit or grade, select Full Registration.

You may reserve housing and parking online at the time you register. To reserve housing at a later date, please call, fax, or send your form to the Split Rock office.

Because all Split Rock workshops require preparation, registration for workshops closes at 4:30 p.m. (CDT) on the Wednesday preceding the workshop’s start date. In addition, you may not reserve housing, purchase a parking contract, or make any changes to your existing registration after that Wednesday. For example, if your workshop begins on Sunday, June 15, you must register no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

Credit card payments are processed instantly through the University’s secure, encrypted connection. You will receive a confirmation shortly after you complete your registration.

Register by Phone/Fax
You may register and reserve housing and/or parking by phone or fax using your credit card. To register by phone, call 612-625-1976. To register by fax, send your form(s) and credit card information to 612-624-6210.

Register by Postal Mail
To register and reserve housing and/or parking by mail, send completed form(s), along with payment or credit card authorization, to: Split Rock Arts Program, University of Minnesota, 360 Coffey Hall, 1420 Eckles Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55108-6084.

You must use individual registration and housing forms for every workshop and housing reservation you make.

After You Register
After receiving your registration, Split Rock will send a confirmation, which is your proof of registration. If you register online, your confirmation will be sent via e-mail. In late May, you will receive the Split Rock Guidebook, which includes maps, resources, and other information to make your experience convenient and worry free.

Registration/Tuition Policies
Split Rock registrations and housing reservations are accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date and time they are received in the Split Rock office, whether you register by Web, phone, mail, fax, or in person.

Split Rock registrations are nontransferable. Once registered, you may not transfer your registration to another person to avoid a withdrawal fee or enable someone else to take your place in a full workshop. However, you may purchase a Split Rock registration for someone using our standard registration procedures.

The Split Rock Arts Program reserves the right to cancel the registration of any participant whose behavior unduly disrupts the learning environment for others. You must be a minimum of 18 years old to register for the Split Rock Arts Program.

Tuition for Split Rock workshops is subject to approval by the Board of Regents and is subject to change without notice.

E-mail List
Subscribing to the Split Rock E-mail List allows you to receive exclusive information about workshops--including last minute openings.
