Business English, ESL 0903

A course for intermediate or advanced students who want to improve their communication in a business setting. The class focuses on English as it is used in international trade, finance, and marketing. Students practice listening and speaking skills (including voice mail), read and discuss business materials, and practice writing email and business letters.

Pronunciation, ESL 3551/0951

Fall 2017: September 5−December 13, Mon. and Wed., 4:40−6:35 p.m.

This course is designed for high-intermediate and advanced students who want to improve their pronunciation. Course content and activities center around improving the production and perception of the sounds of the English language: individual sounds, rhythm, intonation, word and sentence stress, and linking phenomena in fast speech. 4 credits.

Pronunciation Improvement, ESL 3550/0950

Summer 2017: June 19−August 4, Mon. and Wed., 3:35−4:25 p.m.

A shorter version of ESL 3551/0951, this seven-week course is designed for high-intermediate and advanced students and covers the areas that most students benefit from working on. The goal is to improve production and perception of the sounds of the English Language: individual sounds, rhythm, intonation, word and sentence stress, and linking phenomena in fast speech.
