If you're a tax practitioner who works primarily with individual returns and small businesses, these continuing professional education short courses—delivered by experienced educators and practitioners—are for you. The University of Minnesota is an IRS Approved Continuing Education Provider.

Income Tax Short Course

The Income Tax Short Course is an annual two-day in-person course that will give you the tools to maintain your business and stay on top of the latest tax legislation affecting tax returns for current and future years. This program offers IRS-approved continuing education for ethics, federal tax, and federal tax law for tax return preparers, CPAs, enrolled agents, lawyers, insurance personnel, VITA/Volunteers, and others who have a need for continuing education in taxes or tax ethics.

National Income Tax Online Course

Can’t attend an income tax workshop in person? This self-study course is a convenient way to earn CPE credits at your own pace, right from your home or office. You'll have access to 16 hours of presentations taught by knowledgeable tax instructors from all over the US. 

Annual Federal Tax Refresher Course

This course fulfills the annual training required to participate in the IRS Annual Filing Season Program. This is the voluntary IRS program for unenrolled tax return preparers to obtain IRS recognition for staying up to date on tax laws and changes.

Introductory Income Tax Workshop

This workshop is for people who have little or no experience in income tax return preparation. It provides an introduction to federal tax form 1040, types of income and expenses, and the issues and problems encountered by tax return preparers.

Agricultural Tax Issues Course

This workshop is for tax practitioners who work with agricultural tax payers. It focuses on current ag tax issues that affect related tax return preparation. This course will be available fall 2017.
