About This Course
A combination of networking theory (lecture and expert guest speakers) and application (lab work). Topics include network architecture, switching, routing, algorithms, protocols, infrastructure hardware, cable plant, security, and network management.
Sample course topics: Network administration, trajectory of the industry, foundational principles, Cisco network, fixed configurations, network analysis, discovery and documentation, and network-based security.
Sample textbook: Cisco Networks: Engineers’ Handbook of Routing, Switching, and Security with IOS, NX-OS, and ASA, Chris Carthern, William Wilson, Noel Rivera, and Richard Bedwell.

Nathan Tymeson has over 10 years experience in designing and building secure enterprise networks in corporate, Internet-facing, mobile, and extranet environments. He’s held roles ranging from tech support to network architecture, from network security to network manager--all within a variety of industries. A significant accomplishment of Nathan’s includes the design of complex wide area interconnect strategies for multinational corporations. He also has experience creating network and security strategies for manufacturing environments, network quality of service implementations, and mobile network design. He holds industry-recognized certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, and other vendor-neutral organizations.
