Talent Triangle Courses
As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), you must earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) every three years in order to maintain your PMI Certification. These PDUs can be earned via continuing education or giving back to the profession (activities that share your knowledge and skills, contributing to the profession).
The minimum number of PDUs that you need to receive via continuing education are 35 (you can earn all 60 PDUs via continuing education if you choose). The continuing education PDUs must be spread out in three subject areas designated by the PMI Talent Triangle. These subject areas were identified by PMI as the skills that help create a well rounded practioner, including:
- Technical project management
- Strategic and business management
The minimum PDU requirement from each of the subject areas is eight hours, the remaining 11-36 PDUs can be earned in any combination of these categories.
(Note: These requirements only apply to PMP, PgMP, PfMP, and PMI-PBA credentials)
